Explorations of the Heart

One point per sentence, the dots mark questions. Select a stretch to go to that paragraph.

I begin with awe and wonder, looking within only to find the vast emptiness and infinite expanses. So, where does the heart begin, and where does it end, as though there are any boundaries to speak of? Where does the heart rest in the source of love, potential, and hope? I sit in this expansive silence with no where to go, nothing to do, and no one to be. Just loving and enjoying silence.

The fear of sitting with the self for all that is unknown, yet to be discovered and revealed. At the very least, give it a chance, an extended chance, to let this awareness and wisdom grow. A great old pine tree takes time to become it’s full expression. The full expression and potential of a human being, blossoming and flourishing, how much time does it take?

I rest in the fundamental, the first principle, where the ground begins and ends, and where there is no knowing. Here, I know nothing; It is a pure state of being, a glimpse of clarity, a question answered for a moment, and back into the raging current I fall. Tossed around, attention drifting, and observant of an obscured awareness.

If the starting framework could be love, imagine. Imagine we could start with love, and operate with and from love, always reminding ourselves of this condition and possibility. Always pouring forth, or at least trying. Remember the question, who am I? This, we come back to over and over again. All is stripped away, the pieces, the layers, attempting to see what remains. But even the attempting, the efforting, must go, and only space remains.

Resting in this space with sustained focus, attention, and awareness, the subtle begins to show itself. There is discernment, recognition, and an emergent intuition in the subtlety. The lessons and wisdom slowly emerge; the most beautiful things in life take time, as much time as they need and wish to take. Somehow we can learn to slow down with patience, ease, and joy, letting all unfold and become. Letting all grow, cycle around, fall away, and begin again.

How do we hold the uncertainty and the unknown? Making sense of the insensible, the ungraspable, and unspeakable underpinnings of our experience here. When all has fallen away, any semblance of the familiar and the comfortable, and that which can be understood, there is still a way forward; that is, until we don’t even know the way forward, forward, up, down, is mere relativity at this point. Oddly, this is welcome too. It is okay. We allow it all to be, as a mere and curious part of our experience, as lessons shaping or dissolving ourselves. All falls away, the incredible and durable sense of self, and the ever-moving foundation of that which I am. A sense of meaning, a sense of forgiveness, and a sense of love; perhaps, we call this home.
